Stick Marsh/Farm 13

As we enter strongly into the fall season we find the bass moving southward towards the wooded areas of Farm 13. However, it is too early to totally give up on the old irrigation ditches and their intersections.

Our rainy season is coming to a close so we no longer have the open spillways and all that moving water. The spectacular feeding frenzies that accompany the spillway openings fade without the running water. However, bear in mind that the Farm will need irrigation water so watch the pump house. Ditches and intersections can be outstanding areas with the water moving.

It is that time of the year to watch for more surface activity of the shad which of course brings the bass to the top. Don’t be on the lake without a top water bait of some sort tied on.

Our last trip out lasted three and a half hours and during that time we landed nineteen bass with the biggest being about four pounds. The hot stick on the boat was Scott’s and the baits of choice were rattle traps. We worked the entire length of the E/W feeder ditch and most bass were found on the east side of the lake.

We did try the outside wood on the middle south of the lake but nothing to report from that area. See you out there. Say hi if you get the chance.
